The Real Story
The story of The Real McCoy begins during the Prohibition era in the 1920s in the United States with the adventurous captain Bill McCoy. Bill was a so-called rum runner who bought rum in the Caribbean and sold it on international waters outside Manhattan. Bill always kept the quality and never diluted his goods, therefore coining the name, The Real McCoy.

When producer Baily PrYor filmed a high-profile television documentary about Bill McCoy, he met Richard Seale, the fourth-generation Master Distiller at family-owned Foursquare, named Rum Producer of the Year by IWSC for four years in a row. Together, the idea arose to create classic rum of the highest quality according to Bill McCoy's principles. The Real McCoy is therefore handcrafted from only local yeast, molasses and spring water from Barbados and is completely free of sweeteners and additives.
Since its inception in 2012, The Real McCoy rum brand has won over a hundred international medals and is revered globally as one of the leaders in its category in the American and European markets.
The Real Product
The Real McCoy 12 Year Bourbon Barrel Aged Rum is distilled in small batches in a copper pan and column burner before being stored in hard-roasted American bourbon barrels. The scent has notes of buttery oak and spicy dark chocolate. The taste includes butter caramel together with orange zest and tobacco. The aftertaste is soft and structured with a certain pepperiness and a sensation of smoke.

1 Raw Cane Sugar Cube

2 Dashes Aromatic Bitters
Soak sugar cube in bitters, and muddle in bottom of rocks glass. Add large ice cube & 'Real McCoy, then stir gently 1-2x. Garnish with citrus.
